SiBAN Hosts Prof. Ndubuisi Ekekwe on “Blockchain in Nigeria’s Capital Market”

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, the Stakeholders in Blockchain Technology Association of Nigeria (SiBAN) will host a dynamic and interactive session titled “Blockchain in Nigeria’s Capital Market,” with Prof. Ndubuisi Ekekwe leading the conversation as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated voices in technology and innovation.

This session will bring together thought leaders, finance professionals, regulators, and blockchain enthusiasts to explore how decentralized technologies are reshaping Nigeria’s securities ecosystem. From improving transparency and efficiency in trading to unlocking new models of asset ownership and capital formation, the session promises rich insights and forward-looking discussions.

The session will be facilitated by Prof. Ndubuisi Ekekwe, one of Nigeria's most celebrated technology and innovation voices. A TED Fellow, IBM Global Entrepreneur, and World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, Prof. Ekekwe holds two doctoral degrees and four master's degrees, including a PhD in Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. His academic pedigree is matched only by his entrepreneurial track record. He is the founder of Tekedia Capital and Chairman of Fasmicro, Intel Corp's only Africa-certified and authorised programmable microprocessor partner.

He has also co-designed an accelerometer for the iPhone and invented a robotic system whose patent was acquired by the United States Government. In this session, Prof. Ekekwe will walk attendees through what ContisX Securities Exchange is doing to bridge the gap between blockchain and traditional capital markets. As decentralised finance and digital assets continue to challenge conventional financial infrastructure, understanding how blockchain can be applied to securities exchange is no longer a theoretical exercise. It is a business imperative.

Nigeria’s capital market has faced challenges around transparency, slow settlement processes, and limited participation from retail investors. Blockchain technology presents a compelling pathway to address these gaps. By enabling near-instant settlement, minimizing counterparty risk, and providing tamper-proof transaction records, it offers a transformative approach to how securities can be issued, traded, and settled in Nigeria driving greater efficiency, trust, and broader market access.

This session is not just for finance professionals. It is for anyone interested in the future of Nigerian markets, digital assets, fintech innovation, and the evolving regulatory landscape. Whether you are an investor, entrepreneur, regulator, or anyone in the blockchain ecosystem, this conversation is designed to give you practical insight into where the markets are heading.
