SIBAN Sets the Tone for Africa’s AI Future at Tech Expo Africa 2025

SIBAN (Stakeholders in Blockchain Technology Association of Nigeria) took center stage at Tech Expo Africa (TEA) 2025 in Accra, Ghana. They delivered a powerful message: Africa will not just consume AI; it will own and shape it.

In a presentation titled “Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence: Trust + Intelligence for the Future,” SIBAN President Obinna Iwuno spoke extensively on the topic giving Africa what she needs for a better future, he quote:

“Blockchain is the missing trust layer that turns AI from a potential threat into Africa’s greatest opportunity.”

As the world moves toward an AI-driven future, Iwuno warned against digital colonization. He laid out SIBAN’s bold plan to secure Africa’s place at the table:

  • - Immutable ledgers to protect African data sovereignty
  • - Decentralized identity and verifiable datasets to prevent exploitation
  • - Hybrid blockchain-AI systems that empower local startups, not just Silicon Valley or Beijing giants
  • - Transparent governance models for ethical, Africa-first AI deployment

The event, organized by Victor Olushola Kehinde (MTCNA, PSM, PSPO), brought together Africa’s best minds to answer one question: Who gets to write the rules of AI on the continent?

Ghana’s Minister for Communication and Digital Innovation, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, supported the call for African-authored AI regulations. Voices like Josiah Eyison, Deborah Annor, Pablo Moreno, and others emphasized ethical frameworks, responsible data monetization, and local innovation.

From healthcare to agriculture, financial inclusion to education, the consensus was clear: Blockchain and AI, built on African terms, is the way to equitable progress. This is why everyone needs to join SiBAN as we rewrite a new future for Africa's blockchain.
