
SiBAN at the strategic session
Abuja, Nigeria; August 28, 2025 – The Stakeholders in Blockchain Technology Association of Nigeria (SiBAN), through its Members in Abuja, represented the blockchain industry at the National Digital Economy Bill Stakeholders’ Engagement organized by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy recently.
During the engagement, SiBAN presented a comprehensive review of the Bill, highlighting critical areas that must be strengthened to ensure Nigeria builds a robust, secure, and inclusive digital economy.

Key recommendations made by the trio of Janet Oyelade, Honour E. Osagie and Bilikis Oriniowo-Yakubu who represented SiBAN include:
- Harmonization with existing laws such as the Cybercrime Act and Nigeria Data Protection Act to prevent regulatory conflicts.
- Recognition of cross-border transactions, including e-contracts, e-signatures, and international dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Alignment with global digital standards while tailoring provisions to Nigeria’s unique industry realities.
- Prioritizing benefits for Nigerians, including financial inclusion, digital trade growth, and economic empowerment.
- Integration of blockchain technology into the Bill to strengthen transparency, enhance security, and build trust in Nigeria’s digital economy framework.
